The Task

Here we go! I have always appreciated and even enjoyed making things in the kitchen, though when it comes to full-fledged cooking, well, let's just say I envy those on Food Network. I've never been able to taste the spaghetti sauce and think "Oh, it just needs more oregano" or if oregano even belongs in Italian food; it's sad. That could be why I've always had a sweet spot (no pun intended) for baking. While that term definitely seems to take all forms of  masculinity and kick it out to the curb, it is so much more of an analytic process...at least to me it is. Everything is listed out for you...

  • Such -and-such amount of eggs
  • so many tsp of salt
  • this much brown sugar
  • blank tsp of baking soda
Place in a cookie sheet and bake in oven for untold amount of minutes at random (degrees) F.

BAM! I already have an almost recipe for cookies. Who wouldn't enjoy that? Of course there is always innovation and change but that comes with trial and error. I love finding the perfect recipe; making the cookies more chewy by adding more of ingredient A and chilling the batter before putting it in the oven allows for a better looks, and so forth. It just interests me.

With my Writing for Digital Media class I had to set up this blog and figured it should be the perfect time to whip out some good sweets. Heck, I might even try to learn how to make treats that taste so good you wouldn't mind if the world ends in 10 months because you've seen and tasted  deliciousness awesomeness perfection.

Wish me luck! (I just might need it...except for oregano, I won't ever need that)
